ARBO introduces Pharmaceutical Grade Portable Gain in Weight Filling Station

ARBO was engaged to design and manufacture a gain in weight filling station for a Fortune 500 Pharmaceutical supply company. The objective was to speed up the filling of various sized containers with different types of powders and do so with less the ½% over set point.

The pharmaceutical grade feeder/filler is based on the AF-14  Stainless Steel Resonant Vibratory Drive and include a V shaped tray and 1 cu. ft. hopper. All contact materials are 316SS continuously welded in and out and ground smooth. The 304SS scale, feeder and hopper are all mounted on a robust 304SS, electropolished frame rolling on heavy duty casters.

The system is controlled by a HARDY Instruments model 3010 filler dispenser controller which is ergonomically placed in front of the filler to allow for easy selection of the particular feed rate.

The operator uses a foot pedal to actuate the filling cycle which is automatically terminated when the desired weight is dispensed.  Once the filling cycle is complete, the hopper can be removed by removing two quick connect clamps for cleaning and reuse.  The entire filling station can be moved from one part of the plant to another. This reduces occurrences of spillage from moving the materials within the plant.

The 1000:1 turndown ratio of the ARBO AF-14 drive allows for the quick dispensing of small and large quantities of material into various sized bottles and vessels, all with one machine.  Simple, robust, easy to use, versatile and accurate, this machine has applications in foods, packaging, pharmaceutical and industries as well as specialty metals and a wide variety of other application.
